News and Announcements / Gone for ~three days
May 13, 2008, 08:49:31 PM
Well, I won't be available for about the next three days. May 14(Wednesday)-May 16(Friday), possibly the 17th(Saturday), due to a trip our grade is taking to Washington DC.  :o

We have to be at school by 5:30 AM tomorrow, and we leave for the 8 hour drive at 6 AM. We do lots of touring and get to sleep at a hotel with three other people! (Four total) (And there are only two beds  :-\)

And I get back at ~8 PM on friday, and Friday and Saturday are the days of the school's jubilee (rides and stuff in the parking lot with games and food and stuff) and Saturday I'll probably be there all day. Then Sunday, I have to write a paper and study for our last science test... So I'm not going to be around much.  :'(

But half of you won't notice because you barely see me anyways!  ;)
Everything should stay online unless my IP changes, the power goes out, one of the computers restarts because of an update, or Mod James's army of Tacos destroys everything.  :o

well why does she has to do it at those places?? she can just go ::spookypatch or ::ppatch and do as many as she wants ... >:(
Well, if you don't like where someone is planting, buy some Poison from ::patchshop and use it on a plant to kill it.

really good!!! nice ry but when i registered i got my activation really fast :D
Yea the old server got the work done until it crashed.  ;)
#1760
Well it crashed at 2000 plants because of an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException, but I re-wrote the Pumpkin Patch system and there can now be an unlimited number of plants.  ;)

As many of you new members probably noticed, activation emails, or any emails for that matter, from AllGoFree took quite some time to reach your inbox! (Or Spam/Junk folder  :'(, which isn't my fault  :P)
This was due to the terrible SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server I was using. It only sent mail out every 5 minutes and crashed constantly. I'm happy to announce that I just found out that the software package that I use for the website and MySQL also comes with Mercury mail, which has several servers in one, including an SMTP server!  ;D

As you can see I sent a test message to myself from [email protected], and it arrived very quickly.  :D
So now, all emails from the forum should arrive very quickly!  :)

Also, make sure to check your Spam/Junk folder. ;)

Staff notice:
It also has an email server, so I may be able to create @allgofree.org email accounts for our staff!  ;D

This will definatly be in Blitz.   :D

I've always hated how the combat triangle didn't exist in private servers. When Blitz launches, the forumlas may need some tweaking though to be accurate.  ;)

In Development / Re: Next Version of the Client

The download client is fine as long as people do the update thing every once in a while though right?

Well you need the latest version, and the webclient forces you to use the latest version. We can't announce every small update we do. So I'll probably add an outdated client message on the login screen for the new client, so if we offer a downloadable version, outdated versions wouldn't be allowed to connect.  :o

Tech Support / Re: help whit the client
May 11, 2008, 06:50:08 PM
Yea, next time use the Run Client files to run the client instead of the actual JAR of the client. When you run it directly from the JAR, it runs in Low Detail and in a different Java process that doesn't close when you click the X in the corner.

When you run it from the Run Client batch files, a black box will open along with the client. Close the black box, and the client will also completely close.  :)

erm can a normal user actually become a allgofree assistant???
Yep! Thats the point of the titles.  :P

If you want an example, Drl (a member) is an AllGoFree Assistant. He runs and operates SBNet, the IRC network we use. He also helped me set up the IRC Chat button you see.  :)

Rants / Re: Skin
May 10, 2008, 12:17:45 AM
Well the actual computer that the forum is running from isn't causing any lag, its mostly the connection. When I access the forum from my house its really fast (obviously  :P). But the other servers that are running that upload data do cause more lag, mainly WorldScape World 1 is what is eating most of my upload bandwidth.  ::)

Yes, there is already a basic HighScore page in place in the account center. However, eventually there will be a highscores table inside the forum.  :D

Well let me just make something clear! When you load a page, it only loads that page.  ::)

So the content of the site has nothing to do with it. Its just that this site is run from my house, and my upload speed is way behind my download speed. Membership will also help pay for fiber internet possibly, with a very fast upload speed!  ;D

This is hosted not *** smfforfree.
He said that this is not an smfforfree forum, only smfforfree has headers and footers. SMF normally doesn't have that.
