Question:
Do you think we should use forum account logins for classic? Should the friends list be linked with Blitz?
Option 1: Oh yeah!
votes: 28
Option 2: No way!

As many of you probably know, Blitz will be using the forum accounts as the in game accounts. :)
This has many benefits, such as being to easily keep track of who is who, having a built in account recovery system (for those of you who like to get hacked ::)), and so on.
Now, we plan on keeping at least one WorldScape Classic world online for a long time; but we would like to link the friends list of the two games. This means that they must use the same accounts.
So, starting now, you can link your WorldScape Classic account to your forum account. However, classic will continue to use its own accounts for now. :)
Here is the link to the page that will allow you to attach a WorldScape Classic account:

I've set up a poll for you guys to vote. Enjoy! ;D
If we link our Classic Accounts with Blitz, does that mean our stats will be reset on Classic seeing as how you will start new on Blitz?
Different game servers, so I would guess no, but that's not my area of expertise. :P
~Jack.
I like this idea, especially if classic accounts do get reset. It will help the economy greatly.
For now the Classic accounts would retain everything, just like when Jagex changed from RSC to RS2.
You'll login with the forum names on both games, but the items/skills/etc. will be different for each game.
The account attaching is just needed so we can retain these things. I could switch Classic to use the forum accounts right now, but no one would have anything. :P
Would names change in classic if you did this?

Yes, they would change to the forum account names.
Also I should mention that this is needed if we ever want to get Classic on a VPS, since it would need to use the new Blitz login server to load the accounts. :P
I have one other question about this here

If a staff mutes a player in-game, Will it send a message to the players Fourm Inbox? Along side, from being muted in-game, Will that have any effect on the fourms?
What if your forums account password is different from your Classic account's password and you link them? What happens? Also, what if your forums username is longer than 12 characters, or contains symbols? And if you link them, and your username on the forums isn't the same username as in-game, what happens there? Does it change?
all this sounds real complicated, but i'm fine with using the forums accounts for classi this way we can have more active members. 8) :)

Or less active members. Just because they have to make an account to play doesn't mean they will use the forums.
yes your right, but there also players whom have never been on ws forums, yes maybe they've seen it been advertise on the chat box but they don't care or simply they won't get on forums cause they don't understand them. and by linking the forum accaunts to classic players might get intrested. :P

1. Nothing, right now you'll still use the classic usernames/passwords to login to the game. They will probably be different anyway. When we switch classic to the forum accounts, you'll login with the forum username/password, and it will get your item/skill/etc. information from the account you linked. :)
2. If they PM me or post in the Usernames thread, we can change the name so it will work in game. Also, the forum will not let you register with a name longer then twelve characters anymore. 8)\
3. If the usernames are the same, then when we switch classic over to the forum accounts you'll use the same name. (Which is the case for me, since they are both Ry60003333).
However if they have different passwords, you will use the forum password after the switch. (Which is me also)
Anything to help blitz. ;D
~Jack.
Id like it either way but I think the ignore list (since its barley used) should be the classic friends tab and the normal friends tab to be for blitz OR made like a ::317friends and ::508friends (::508 works on classic and ::317 works on blitz) :d
It'll show if the player is on classic or Blitz. :)
What happens if you want a pk-ing account, or a pure. You would need to create a new forum account huh? :/

Yes but this is how RuneScape does it. It now requires an email address when you sign up, just like our forum, and creating a RuneScape game account gives you an account on the RuneScape forums. 8)
so when blitz comes out will there be a new forums?? or will there be a button like "play worldscape classic" but say worldscape blitz?
The forums will stay the way they are now, but it will most likely say "Play WorldScape Classic" and "Play WorldScape Blitz".

there just been reserved for blitz and we won't have cool usernames left! :o
