Title: Tsunami: Japan
Post by: Voltimolt on March 11, 2011, 06:37:19 AM
I got this important information from all over my Facebook, but firstly over Google which informed us.

QuoteTsunami Alert for New Zealand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, and others. Waves expected over the next few hours, caused by 8.9 earthquake in Japan.

I don't really know what's going to happen next, but I say we build a 10inch solid steel submarine with infinite oxygen and living in the deepest ocean would be our safest option after flying to the solar system space.

I've seen some footage of the Japan earthquake and it's not looking pretty, apparently, this earthquake is the top 10 strongest earthquake the earth has encountered.

NOTE: This topic is listed under Mature, which means you have to talk like a proper person, debating a speech-like post.

I heard about this when I woke up.
It's insane, and quite depressing, how much is going on in the world right now.

The earthquake was apparently the largest to hit Japan in about three hundred years and the seventh largest known to man.
Thus, the Tsunami is extremely large, hitting many cities on it's way inland and causing quite a bit of damage.
They say the tsunami could be/will be about six meters deep.
The areas that weren't affected by the tsunami have taken a lot of damage just from the earthquake alone.
This includes explosions, fires, collapsing buildings, loss of electricity etc..
There is no doubt that there will be a large amount of injuries among the people, let alone property damage.
However, it seems the government has had plans for such an instance and are acting quickly to try to keep people as safe as possible.
I don't know what those plans are or how they're going to execute them though..

Aggreed, although it's terrible that millions of people are suffering...

Also, Japan's nuclear power plant might release radioactive gasses in the air, which could dammage Japan (much as Chernobyl did).

This is very big, i don't know why there is so many disasters in this world for the past 2 years. There has been earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, injuries, deaths, etc. This is just insane, nobody knows why this keeps happening and nobody will know. A few months ago there was a small earthquake in toronto downtown and i felt it a little bit. I hope that the people in japan could handel this and survive it without problems. Most of the homes have already completely flooded underwater and same for cars. There are people without homes and no insurance and they have nowhere to go. Let's pray that they make it out of this horrible experience. :(

Because it is almost the end of the world...And a dam was broken in Japan because of the earthquake..This means it's really fuckin' strong..and also ships were moving like it was in the sea..That's sad.

The fifth strongest earthquake in recorderd history. At least it was very near the coast of Japan so it didn't have time to gain it's full power when it hit them and it lost all it's energy before hitting most places.

Unknowed, from what  I've heard, there will be more waves. So even if the first wave stopped at a certain point, it will most likely push farther (or already has).

Also 17..

The strongest one in history is the 1960 Chilean earthquake. My GI teacher told me that it was in the top five in recorded history, but I don't knot.

Not only radioactive gases in the air but also radioactive leeks in the sea's which would most likely cause the fish to die and anyone that ate from this fish would suffer, Not to mention i heard that somehow when events such as this occur it can releases diseases which would also cause some substantial deaths such as the radiation..
Here is what i know of:
Over 50 countries have been offering assistance to japan.
Over 10,000 people are reported missing and rising.
About 310,000 people have been evacuated.
Some locals have been evacuated to Hong Kong.
Rest in peace those people that have died in this tragic event.

Yeh, and japan has moved like 2,5 metres to west or something..

Also here in Finland was pretty strong earthquake last night..

Here's like 30-40 earth quakes per year and only 2/40 of them have been that strong..

And every drugstore is out of iodine already, they buy it because it protects you from radiation..

If you live near the place where is radiation, ive hard that eating salty helps a lot..

Also when the nuclear thingy in Russia exploded, my whole family got cancer >.<

Theres allways been earthquakes but this one was stronger..nothing like world end will not happen..

Yeh, and im really sorry about this..

This reminds me of the Haiti earthquakes last year...

It's sad that thousands of people are suffering, with thousands unnacounted for.  Yet, some people are mocking them, and do not realize the severity of this disaster.

Yes. It's annoying because..
You know, if it happened near you and your loved ones were missing..?
You certainly wouldn't appreciate someone making fun of that..

I haven't really heard much new on this lately, however.
Just more of the same..

Just to add something, during these difficult times of natural disasters Japan has also been aided by China despite there decades of conflict, Do you possibly think a new friendship could be formed :O?
Note: I'm not really aware of the past conflicts that occurred between China and Japan but you can bet i'll be doing some research when i get the time to :).

A few days ago, some people found that the water was tainted by Plutonium, a radio-active element, near the Fukushima plant.  Also, many aftershocks are still hitting the area, such as a 6.7 earthquake yesterday.  Japan's situation is way, waaayyy more severe than people can comprehed.  Thousands are already dead, thousands more unnacounted for.  Millions of people are starving of hunger, and there could be a disease epedemic, such as Haiti had.
