Title: Home Location
Post by: Ry60003333 on April 11, 2010, 01:44:09 PM
They key skills and features are mostly done with the new WorldScape Blitz server, and we were wondering what would be a good home city/location to start off the game in. In Classic, this city is Lumbridge, but there isn't much to do in Lumbridge. So, cast your vote and make sure to post your reasoning! 8)

Tutorial Island.

Why? because it is a brilliant little place where all of the basics are taught, and the fact that its awesome.
It doesn't really make sense as a home location. There are no shops or others necessary npcs and shops. I prefer Camelot because it has a name in the past and it is a cool place with the round table. :)

I've added Camelot to the list of options.

I'd have to say the members' area with the Tokel in RS would be pretty useful because there are good shops and good npcs there.

Thanks Ryan. Hey, what about the castle which deathzone always used? If you put npc shops in it it could be useful.

Then DZ would need a new clan area because there would always be people there.

Catherby is one of the most heavily populated places in RuneScape. It has a few shops, it's right next to the Seer's Village, it has a farming patch, and it has a shoreline to fish on! So that's where my vote goes. :P

i vote lumbridge just because i've played other servers where you start in like camelot and it just doesnt seem like the right "home place".. i think it should be either:
varrock- has tranning in north, south and east and has places for shops.. also by a couples quests.
or
catherby- what travis(volcanic me) said.

I think it should be in tutorial island. That'd be great because it's like runescape.

Is think for Blitz or Classic? Either one, Tutorial Island :)

Pk0, we're trying to be better than RS. How can we be better if we have the same things? We have to excell. Varrock is the best option because of what Drunk Mario said. Good training just south at the mages, guards at the castle, and shades to the east if they keep them. Wildy to the north west or north east. Shops all over. Multiple quests start in Varrock. It has the most overall good things.

i voted draynor village, ive always been there on rs, it has a little market so it fit's in with the buying and selling of items.

There are trees for woodcutting and a little place to start fishing, also there is a place to thief.

Edit: more ideas.

I think Lumbridge is more tradtional, but I think we need a change of pace to either Catherby or Varrock.

Well - I suppose it really matters on a few key matters for me. Now, I do hope you're going to have crafting in Blitz, correct? (Memorys alittle foggy about what Blitz had when I was a tester.) Now, are you planning to have memers? I remember in a age old post by our ex- Mod James talking about a posibility of members being in Blitz. From what I rememer, you didn't set up and no-nos in your coding when I explored. So, if you're going to have members, I think that a home in member terratory would be... Bad, to say the least. I'd like Catherby if you're not going have members, though. :D

Bowconstr,
Hey Jeremy I think you should make it tutorial island, Because if we spawn here we can still :: somewhere so really its just another place to go.
Thanks
Happy Gaming Jeremy  :)

what about zanaris ( new magics)
Title: Re: Home Location
Post by: Coleshot1 on May 27, 2010, 05:38:50 PM
Make it Catherby, not Lumby. Catherby is pretty far away, so people won't be hanging around Varrock and Lumby and never go anywhere else. Then Lumby would actually be a cool place because the noobs don't respawn there when they die.  8)
And yeah, Catherby has a lot of resources like fishing, farming patches, shops, a near-by city (camelot) and the mountain where you could put training for new players. (Men in lumby= bears, unicorns, goblins etc. on White Wolf Mountain)

i vote for lumby :D,lumby is the only real place you could call home.

Maybe it could be in bounty hunter(XD). No, i think it should be in a place where is much to discover and pretty much shops and npcs. But in fact in the Tutorial Island could be useful for newbies to train skills on.

(OFF TOPIC)

have someone ever played Frugooscape? there was a self-made tutorial island, and i think it should be something like that.

DO NOT SAY THIS IS ADVERTISING BECAUSE THE SERVER HAS BEEN OFFLINE FOR A YEAR AND WILL NOT BE BACK ONLINE!

and Frugooscape was the best and most famous Runescape private server ever (i think) so it would be weird if no one hasn't played that once in his/her life

We dont want to be modeled after private servers really.. They are modeling Blitz off Runescape. We want the real deal, not some fake joke. Also Have you guys decided what the new home place will be?

After what Coleshot1 (http://www.worldscapeblitz.com/blitz/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=7591) has said i think this is an awesome idea. I haven't seen a home to be catherby on any private servers or worldscape. i think this would be a great change.

Please consider this. ;D

I'd have to go with Seers Village/Camelot since everything is there. Like maple trees, yew tree, flax, mining spot for coal and other minerals. From there you can get to anywhere you want best place ever!

Or! Varrock since it has everything for starters shops, training combat skills, fishing, woodcutting, smithing, minning, and wilderness! And way more!

Hello,

Since the name is Blitz, I think the home place should be somewhere cold.

Such as in the frozen wastelands, or close by there.

Just a suggestion, and also it makes sense.

Thank you Ryan and Jeremy for your dedication on Blitz, I can't wait until the release.

Regards,
Brian Crowell

Lumbridge. It makes the most sense and I can't see myself enjoying any other home location if it's not Lumbridge. That's the way it's been on WorldScape since 2006 and I think it should stay that way.

Also, if the home location was at tutorial island, then no one would be able to see each other typing or talking because that's the way it is in RuneScape. And I know it wouldn't work for a fact.

Lumbridge is the classical area, I think stick with the classics.
Title: Re: Home Location
Post by: Drunk Mario on July 06, 2010, 10:43:44 PM
Yeah.. Lumbridge is one of the most common Home areas for RSPS. I agree with Bill about tutorial island though.. I don't like that you can't talk and see other people, However.. it will prevent people making spamming accounts (spammer4) and advertising another server.. but then people who actually want to play the server must go through that kind of stuff. So tutorial island has it's ups and it's downs.. But in the end there's more downs.
