Title: Yell Channel

I'm sick of two things

1. The yell channel is always off!!!
2. The spammers on the yell channel!!!


I know that #2 causes #1 but why don't the mods and admins just mute the spammers so not everyone is punished and they can just continue to do it when the yell channel comes back on.

Ryan could add a level requirement so you need to be like level 100 or something to use the yell channel.

I feel it should be higher than that, people around 125 still abuse it. How about 135? or higher?

I think 100 sounds good. Thats people who have played long enough to know the rules and know spamming equals death.

I agree, and aslo I agree for high level, expierenced, and old players should be only allowed to use Yell Channel.

Thankyou for posting, but what about when a low level person is trying to buy something? should we have certain required words such as "trading" "buying/selling" "may lose items"? and you can only yell so many times per hour? that way the mod won't necessarily need to keep track of the yell channel, I'll add your names to the list.

1# The Pures? (Like all pure's have 100 and lower combat)

Note: What about to check the longness the peoples was played, and not the combat?

Today in class i came up with an idea for two seperate Yell Channels. One for people below 120 and one for 120+, or if the first ideas don't work, one Yell Channel for merchating and one other for gossip and ect.

Well i mean it's not a bad idea, But that idea could cause a lot of spamming, But if it was controlled it would be a good idea.

How about at the beginning when you first log in you are given a choice, A for merchanting and pking, and B for gossip etc.. or do a command like ::chata or ::chatb

Usualy we don't disable the yell channel because of just one person, it's when like 3-4 people are having a conversation, and -after- you give a warning (verbal, enable yell while on, disable yell for a few seconds)
And, ya, the lv3\pures wouldn't be able to talk, CB is -not- a good way to filter it. If ry could make the Yell channel act more like Clan Chat (and have it auto-join ((permanently)) one when you log on) so that moderators+ could "Kick" off the channel (kicked for a set time, or until they log out), that would work best.
Although, that does seem like a lot of work for classic, maybe this should happen in Blitz? =]

I don't think level thing is a good idea because there are level 3s that collect rares and stuff and they cant say like if they are doing hide and seek or something. plus triniboy couldn't do it, he's level 1 :(

there could be something. The system can detect flaming, cussing and spamming.
If somebody does one of the above they get auto muted.

I think that there should be a man. The yell channel man. And once you talk to him, you are free to yell just like anyone. If someone uses a bot like Ryan's, they won't be able to walk in-game and talk to the man. Anyone that talks can yell, regardless of level, items, etc. Flawless.

How about we have a system. It only applies if there is one or no mods/admins on. Everyone gets points based on in game performance, rules, experience, friendliness, etc., and the player with the most points is the person who can moderate the yell channel.

This is my input (Some of you couldn't care less,that's your problem) When someone spams the yell channel report them (on forums) than if it gets too much for you turn your public chat off.
You guys are thinking to advanced stick with something simple (As i explained).

I don't really think turning your public chat off hides the yell channel...  :-\
I think everyone just needs to listen to me when I explain the rules for the yell channel, and not just start spamming again when i'm done.  >:(

I agree, it is annoying and i have an idea... we can do like all people have a limit per hour and you have to be at least higher than 80 (because it takes some time and you will know rules better and you will not want your high level to be banned/muted) and and maybe the problem can be solved im not sure  :-\

but it's open for any tweaks or changes  ;)

and maybe there shouldn't be a yell channel  :P not sure

NO! WE HAVE TO LET HIM YELL!!!!!! I have an equation for this I think...

Y=mx+b
Y=1/3x+(3x)

Y=yells per day
M=1/3 of X
X= amount of hours logged
B=3 extra yells

For every three hours of time logged you get one yell per day plus the three you get free each day.

I think this could really actually work. Even for players just starting out.

if you restrict how much you can yell then it would be very hard for people to advert things like camp, drop parties, etc.

How many times do you need to yell it? If people don't come the first few times then they won't come after 50 yells will they?

There is no way to prevent this problem...and if people don't come there is no need to reiterate the fact that camp is starting... as for drop parties it doesn't matter if you all have limits 500 people are gonna be yelling DROP PARTY!!! till they max it out..

LOL, I know this is like the 2nd post, but...

This still wouldn't be good because what if a spammer came in, and he/she was above Level 100? And wouldn't take a long time to do this?
