It was lightening thunder and eruption at the same time. the photography was excellent
also the flights were delayed for a week, they said if the engines caught the ashes, the engines would stop.

it happened in 1940 too. a plane went through ashes and the engine suck it in and shut down, they were falling. but luckily they got the engines working again.
