Title: Super-speed boost
Post by: Ry60003333 on February 27, 2011, 06:06:13 AM
I am extremely happy to report that we have resolved the issue where the main server running the database would crash. We have replaced all five of the older computers that ran various parts of the website and the game with two powerful Mac servers! This means that not only should the game and website have much better uptime, but the website and the login time for the game should be much faster. In fact, if you look at the bottom of the page where it says "Page create in xx seconds", we have jumped from being generated from ~0.7 seconds or over to 0.2 or even 0.1 seconds! 8)

So basically, enjoy the new speed from the new servers:

0.219 seconds for me.

Don't post your time, I'm just giving an example.

Awesome! Good job Ryan! Also, I am SO glad that the login speed is sped up! I hated waiting before for it to load up.

Nice job!

This is the one on the left:

and the one on the right is running Linux, so I can't get a picture of the specs, it has 2 x 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5 and 2.5 GB of RAM.

The Linux server is running Debian 6 with no GUI installed, so even if I connected a monitor too it all I would see is text prompting for a login. :)
