Title: Auto Log out
Post by: I Merk on March 12, 2012, 02:12:59 PM
Well, it's pretty simple to be honest. When an account hasn't done an action in around 5 minutes it gets logged out. This may help when an account is stuck online and you won't go online to find half the players AFK.  ;)

This is called an afk timer. I personally am not a fan of it, I've played with it before and you'll find it gets annoying. If you get stuck you can just log in a different account and ask for it to be kicked.

As much as i support this, some players may want to afk for 5 minutes, because they have dinner.. or some other event they must attend, and they might not want to be kicked =\.

If I'm away for more then five minutes I log out. Also, Mods & Admins aren't on 24/7 to kick you. I was stuck online once and asked the only Mod online to kick me, turns out he was AFK for about 10 minutes... I don't think there is any downsides to this either.

I think this should be applied to NON STAFF members.  Staff would have no timer so they can keep eye.

I believe it should be the complete opposite. It's annoying as hell to see staff members afk because if you need help and you're all like "HEY" for 10 minutes, you're just like "wtf..." But it's completely expected for players to be afk all the time. Therefore, if you're going to apply it, definitely do it to the staff members, since their job is to help people, and it does no good to have someone who is supposed to help you if they are afk. If they're keeping an eye on the game, then they aren't afk.

I agree with Trololblahblah.. Most of the time, when you need a staff member the most, it turns out that they've been away for twenty minutes.. Some of the staff have the power to read the chat logs anyway, so keeping an eye on everyone isn't a problem. Even if something does happen, It's called the report abuse button and if it's a serious issue I'm sure someone can message a staff member on the forums. If this is applied, I believe that everyone should have the auto-log, or no one at all.  :)
Just my opinion..

I completely agree, it's annoying as hell when staff members go AFK for 30 minutes without saying anything. Great point on it doesn't really matter if a player is because players arent expected to say anything at all if they don't want to. I see no point in applying it to just non-staff.

I also think this should be implemented, hands down.

Having OCD about people's posts? No need to fear, The Grammar Nazi Police is here.

The point I'm trying to prove is that my posts correcting people's grammar is just as pointless as their posts trashing you. There's no need to be an ass hole. And posting a comment trashing people on a public thread so everyone can see it doesn't make you look tough, like most of you are hoping it does. Take it to PM if you're that upset about it, because honestly, we couldn't give one less f*ck about it.

I don't think you realize I'm on your side.

Haha. You probably misread my post. It wasn't against you in any way at all.

Can someone please tell me if this is part of an English exam, cause I have always thought this was a forum for Worldscape.

It is. And you're passing with an A- to B+ grade.

I say that the auto log out should be added, but it should be like... 5 minutes for staff members and 15 - 20 minutes for regular players.

Yeah... I hated English at school. >.<

As for the auto log-out, we are still in agreement that it should happen, right?
Not me.

Can you explain why you want it? Is there any other reason then because of getting stuck? I just find it highly annoying when it kicks you all the time. I mean players should be allowed to stay afk if they want to. You can always act afk and see what people say about you. :3

But I think that for staff this should apply.

Yup, but no BS about staff 'needing to be online all the time'. Also, the ::sit command only lasts for a short period of time.
