Well after a little over a week, AllGoFree and WorldScape are finally back online! What had happened was the main server running MySQL, the website, the Login Server, and World 2, died. And by died I mean I couldn't get it to startup, not even from a Windows install disc, or five Linux CDs I tried. So, we had a professional check the hard drive and the computer. On Monday (August 25th), I was told the hard drive was fine, but the computer was dead. So today we got the hard drive and a bunch of cables to connect to it to make it work via USB, and heres a picture of what it looks like:

And I finally got MySQL and the website configuration off of it, and the World 1 computer is now running the website, MySQL, the Login Server, and World 1. 8)

And if the site and game go down for short times its probably because of Microsoft and there evil updates. :o


So everything except the dead computer is up and running again, so have fun! :D

Well many of you probably noticed that work on WorldScape Blitz kind of, well stopped. :o
Now I can assure you that work is being done, and a lot of it. ;)

But, I would like to confirm one rumor going around.

Well, unfortunately the launch of WorldScape Blitz has too be delayed from the original date of 6:00PM EST, Friday June 13th. This is mainly to the fact that the game is not yet 'playable'. What I mean by this is that if you were to login to the game as it is expected to be on that date, you would have no ways of getting around other then walking, there is absolutely no way to get items other then drops, and to get drops you have to kill monsters, but you have nothing to fight with. And, there is no way to obtain food to help you kill monsters.

I didn't want to disappoint the players of WorldScape with this, as even classic would be more enjoyable at this stage. And I don't think Blitz has earned the title "The greatest RuneScape Private Server. Ever." just yet.

But, I want to assure you that development on Blitz is going faster then ever, now that I have way more time to work on it. I only gave myself the first eight days of summer to prepare Blitz, and even with that I wasn't able to get it ready.  :'(

Well, now I would like to switch to a positive note. Blitz is definitely not a failure. It is still far more advanced then any other server framework wise. It has been tested with over 200 players on one World, and is expected to be able to hold as many as the real RuneScape game worlds. 2,000 players. I spent so much time working on the very basics of a server, mainly the networking. I was also working on the new login server, but I also had to pause my work on that and use the old one because I didn't have enough time. Blitz's engine is very powerful, and when the game is ready I think it will be amazing.  :)

Well, there you have it. The new launch date will be determined soon and posted here, and we will be working extremely hard to meet that date. I would also like to thank the staff who helped us get this far, and the beta testers who will be slowly watching Blitz become the greatest private server. I will be keeping a to-do list for Blitz here, so everyone will know what exactly is going on with Blitz!

Well, recently I've been touching up Blitz and switching it to NIO. Right now I'm cleaning it up, and making things non static. (If you know what that means  :P)

Well all I've done is the main Server class, and I've made myself a lot of work! (Anything with a red ! in the corner has one or more classes that needs fixing!  ::))

Well, as many of you probably noticed, AllGoFree was offline for a few days for Maintenance, and and page with a short message by me was presented on the website. This also included a connection list, and a connection count, just to keep people entertained, and so I could see how many people were connecting.  :P

Well, in the end i broke the copy of Windows running on the computer that runs MySQL, the Website, and the Login Server. So, I had to reinstall Windows, then all the drivers, and Norton. Then I had to scan my entire network for viruses, and now everything is finally back up and running!  :D

Well, as you can see the forum is its boring default look.  :'(
This is because I've upgraded it to SMF 2.0 Beta, and our old theme wasn't compatible.  :'(

So, we are now open to suggestions for the theme!  ;D You can find themes at http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/, but remember the Version: for the theme must contain SMF 2.0 Beta!

Post the link to the themes page here, and why you think we should use it!  :D

News and Announcements / Gone for ~three days

Well, I won't be available for about the next three days. May 14(Wednesday)-May 16(Friday), possibly the 17th(Saturday), due to a trip our grade is taking to Washington DC.  :o

We have to be at school by 5:30 AM tomorrow, and we leave for the 8 hour drive at 6 AM. We do lots of touring and get to sleep at a hotel with three other people! (Four total) (And there are only two beds  :-\)

And I get back at ~8 PM on friday, and Friday and Saturday are the days of the school's jubilee (rides and stuff in the parking lot with games and food and stuff) and Saturday I'll probably be there all day. Then Sunday, I have to write a paper and study for our last science test... So I'm not going to be around much.  :'(

But half of you won't notice because you barely see me anyways!  ;)
Everything should stay online unless my IP changes, the power goes out, one of the computers restarts because of an update, or Mod James's army of Tacos destroys everything.  :o

As many of you new members probably noticed, activation emails, or any emails for that matter, from AllGoFree took quite some time to reach your inbox! (Or Spam/Junk folder  :'(, which isn't my fault  :P)
This was due to the terrible SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server I was using. It only sent mail out every 5 minutes and crashed constantly. I'm happy to announce that I just found out that the software package that I use for the website and MySQL also comes with Mercury mail, which has several servers in one, including an SMTP server!  ;D


As you can see I sent a test message to myself from [email protected], and it arrived very quickly.  :D
So now, all emails from the forum should arrive very quickly!  :)

Also, make sure to check your Spam/Junk folder. ;)

In Development / Next Version of the Client

As many of you know, the WorldScape Client has some problems when loading, mainly the abyte0 nulled error. So, I've gotten a newer release of the refactored client from one of the moderators at MoparScape. So, I'm re-writing the client with that client as the base. I'm probably making a few changes also.

Instead of downloading all the files from websites, the actual game worlds may send needed files to a loading client, like real RuneScape's update servers. However I may still have the cache download from the website, to prevent lagging the worlds too much.

So far, I've gotten a basic connection from the client and I'm moving on to grabbing the files.


Were also thinking of making the client only run on the web, like the real RuneScape client. This would allow us to ensure that everyone is using the latest version of the client, and we could easily add new features and fix bugs this way.

So, what do you think?

Tech Support / Client Cache Download Fixed

Finally!  ;D

Max's host's webserver wasn't serving the cache right, and many of you have complained of the client crashes because of this. Well now SB aka Drl (the guy who hosts the IRC Chat) has uploaded the cache to his site! (sb.sepwich.com)
And I've tested it, and it works. The master URL file has been updated (the one all clients re-download on startup) with the URL, so if your client is broken, find the .agf377_file_store_32 folder, delete it, and run the client again!  :D

This is a list of things that have been suggested already and do not need to be suggested again, and also for suggestions that we will probably never add.



? Using the Silab Client
This has already been mentions many times. We will probably not make use of the "Silab" items in the client, as other key parts of the game would be missing. Having the new items in the old environment just doesn't well. Also, we cannot offer support for the client. Even SilabSoft herself stated at http://www.moparscape.org/smf/index.php?topic=266774.msg2204237 that "SilabClient is made of fail i suggest using your own works.", and we are doing just that.

Welcome to the new official WorldScape Blitz forum. I would just like to shed some light on the next version of WorldScape, WorldScape Blitz. Please post any questions here, and I will answer them.

First, the forum accounts and in-game accounts will be the same. After you register on the forum, you will be able to login to the game with the same username and password.
Before the release, a link to the new client will be posted.
