I don't think you've gotten this yet, but worldscape items and IRL money is actually a diffirent currecy.

Yup, I've gotten that, but I don't quite understand what that has to do with whether or not this is a shortcut or not. Here, I'll do the math for you.

The $100 you paid to have the skill handed to you (quite literally, actually) would have taken about 13 hours for me to earn at my job over the summer with taxes applied. All that you need to know for that is the 13 hours.

Now, in WS right now there are 14 different herbs. Because of how little exp you get from just simply cleaning the herbs we'll consider that not to be a factor at all. Of those 14 different herbs, only 5 of them are able to be used to make a potion. We'll assume that each herb has the same drop rate as the others and that overall you can expect an herb 75% of the time. It takes about 20-30 seconds to kill a shade depending largely on luck with hits. Let's use both of these times to find an expected range of time to get the herbs for 135 by killing shades.

The average experience you get per potion is going to be 17,000 exp.

60x60=3600/20=180x(3/4)=135x(5/14)=~48.2x17,000=819,643.
60x60=3600/30=120x(3/4)=90x(5/14)=~32.14x17,000=546,429.

460,504,778/819,643=~561.84
460,504,778/546,429=~842.75

Getting 135 herblore by killing shades will take you anywhere from 561 hours to 842 hours. During that time you could be working at that same job as before and earn anywhere from $4,315 to $6,483.

So in other words, it is very, very clearly a shortcut.

I know it's a shortcut, as i said before. (i think it's deleted)

But you're telling me it won't be fair unless you pay between 4,000 and 6,000 dollars?
[COMPLETE] 1. Get 135 in every skill
[COMPLETE] 2. Pass 10 billion total experience (10/10)
[COMPLETE] 3. Pass 20 billion total experience (20/20)
[COMPLETE] 4. Pass 30 billion total experience (30/30)
[COMPLETE] 5. complete zombies all by myself (840 kills)
[PROGRESSING] 6. hit 2b Exp in all skills (15/21)
[PROGRESSING] 7. Collect 1000 exp lamps (676/1000)

Recoil

Why are you so caught up on the short cut thing, that isn't even what the topic is about. James was just wondering if people think it would be fair.

Just lost all the respect I once had for you.

Predator, earlier you said that money and in game items are a different currency. I decided to provide a bit of an "exchange rate" between the two to show that they are, in fact, related. I'm not saying that you should have to pay several thousand dollars, but I'd like to show you that your comparison to a lake isn't at all close. The walk around the actual lake would take 650 hours while your $100 trip across the lake would only take fifteen. It isn't a 20 minute walk around the lake and a $1000 trip across like you suggested.

Ethan, it is still pertinent. If the legitimate way takes 650 hours to do then people are going to say that we do need to add new features.

Kane, that's the money you would have earned if the time you spent getting 135 herblore by killing shades at work instead.

Recoil

Well even if it's relevant it doesn't belong on this topic. I feel like in the past couple weeks no one has taken seriously how derailed and off-topic these posts get.

You know what I meant. Relevant to WS maybe but not this particular thread.

I was responding directly to someone who posted in the thread. We're still talking about herblore and I'm lobbying for the shop to be added, but just to not make it so that the people who donated basically donated for nothing (also known as donating.)

Would you guys prefer a herblore shop for supplies?

If so, should we charge rune shards (make it donators only, to help support the server?)
Lets return the topic to what it's intended for. Not for whether or not people take shortcuts.
