Marmite sucks, Vegemite is better :)
It's illegal to send Vegemite to the states.

It's not. :-)  I sent some a month ago to Chicago and she recieved it. :-)

I was told it was because "yeast extract" is illegal in the U.S

Mia

Ahh, Well.  I'm pretty sure ALOT of their foods have yeast extract in them. :P

Jake

Well they do sell it at Australian stores in the states, so i've heard, so I can't see why sending it would be illegal.

Vegemite is above the law.

Krest I V

Vegemite is not illegal to send to the states.

Yeah, there's no ban on mailing vegemite or anything with yeast extract in it. Stores do sell it here but it's not popular because not many people think it tastes good and not many people are willing to try out anything described as a "paste" because that sounds nasty.

Jake

Vegemite is not at all a paste  :o

From Wiki: "Vegemite is a dark brown Australian food paste made from leftover brewers' yeast extract with various vegetable and spice additives..."

Jake

It's similar to butter. I wasn't technically meaning it's not a paste but if you seen it in a jar I don't think you'd classify it as a paste.

Kryptonite

It is a "yeast spread" :)

Krest I V

Calling it a "yeast spread" is not better than calling it a "paste"
