I have just a simple question, when i try to select a collour it only gets whiter or darker but it wont get green or red. does any one know how to fix this?

I don't completely understand you're problem, just keep adjusting the tall narrow rectangle and the big box till you get the colour you are looking for

When i try to get green, i get grey or black all the time.

Have you tried using the eye-dropper tool?

      Get a color you like add it into the banner select the eye-dropper and click on the colour, then delete or hide that layer.
You may have a corrupt file or something.

Change the image mode, you've got it set on grayscale.
so no matter what colour you add on your image in photoshop it changes it to a black and white colour.

to fix it you have to change it to RGB Mode.
On the menu click: Image > mode > RGB Color

thank god for Voltimolt.  i don't use grey scale so i never came across this problem.
